Security
How we protect your money.
Security you can see: multi-factor sign-in, encryption in transit and at rest, alerts on anything unusual, and controls you hold yourself.
What we do
- Multi-factor sign-in. A one-time code confirms it is really you on a new device.
- New-device & new-location alerts. We email you when your account is accessed from somewhere new, so a stranger can't sign in quietly.
- Encryption. Traffic is protected with TLS in transit, and sensitive data is encrypted at rest.
- Instant card freeze. Freeze a card in one tap; charges are declined at the terminal, not clawed back later.
- Card controls. Set per-transaction and monthly limits and turn off online, ATM or international use.
- Fraud monitoring & Regulation E. We watch for unusual activity and cover eligible unauthorised electronic transfers under federal rules when you report promptly.
How to protect yourself
- Use a strong, unique password and keep your one-time codes to yourself.
- Turn on account alerts and review them.
- Never share your password or a code — not with anyone claiming to be Halden.
- Check that the address bar reads haldenbank.com before signing in.
How Halden will and won't contact you
We may email or call you about your account, but we will never ask for your password, your full card number, or a one-time passcode. If someone does, it is not us. Hang up and call the number on the back of your card, or 1-800-555-0177.
Report phishing or fraud
Forward suspicious emails to security@haldenbank.com and delete them. If you think your account is at risk, freeze your cards and contact us immediately. You can also report fraud here.
